Vol. 561 No. 4

Written Answers. - National Development Plan.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

263 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Finance the national development plan outlay in the Waterford constituency for 2002; the percentage this was of his Department's total national development plan outlay for 2002; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4708/03]

I understand the Deputy has tabled a similar question to other Ministers and their responses will indicate national development plan expenditure in the areas for which they are responsible. As Minister for Finance, my Department is responsible for the direct allocation and spending of funds under the technical assistance operational programme, the peace programme and the technical assistance measure in the regional operational programmes.

The technical assistance operational programme and technical assistance measure under the southern and eastern regional operational programme are the only areas of NDP expenditure for which my Department is responsible in the southern and eastern regional assembly area. This expenditure is not allocated on a county basis. Between January and the end of June 2002, the most recent figures reported to the monitoring committees, expenditure under the technical assistance OP and technical assistance measure in the southern and eastern regional OP was €957,000 and €49,000 respectively. The complete expenditure figures for 2002 will be reported to the monitoring committees in March.
