Vol. 561 No. 4

Written Answers. - Rail Network.

Paul McGrath

Question:

404 Mr. P. McGrath asked the Minister for Transport when he expects improved rolling stock to be provided on the Mullingar-Maynooth-Dublin railway line; if his attention has been drawn to the poor quality of the rolling stock; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4780/03]

I am informed by Irish Rail that it is in the process of taking delivery of 80 new diesel railcars in the current year.

Some of these will be used on services between Mullingar and Dublin and all commuter services on this route will be operated by modern diesel railcars before year-end.
