Denis Naughten

Question:

197 Mr. Naughten asked the Taoiseach the secondary legislation outstanding within his Department; the function of each piece of secondary legislation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5515/03]

This Department has no outstanding secondary legislation. The Central Statistics Office, however, has some outstanding secondary legislation as follows:

Draft Order entitled Statistics (Services Inquiries) Order 2003. The purpose of this order is to enable the collection of statistical returns for the purposes of estimating the contribution of the services sector to the Irish economy.

Draft Order entitled Statistics (Retail Sales) Order 2003. The function of this order is to enable the collection of statistical returns for the purposes of estimating the level of monthly sales by retail traders – a short-term indicator of the level of consumer spending in the Irish economy.

Draft Order entitled Statistics (Survey of Industrial Commodities Production) Order 2003. The order will enable the collection of statistical returns for the purposes of estimating the sale of certain industrial products manufactured within Ireland.
