Vol. 562 No. 4

Written Answers - Traffic Calming Measures.

Joe Costello

Question:

374 Mr. Costello asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he has an objection to Royal Canal Bank-Blacquire Villas, Phibsboro, Dublin 7, becoming a one way traffic system or cul-de-sac on security or other grounds; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6087/03]

I have been informed by the Garda authorities that the Royal Canal Bank-Blacquire Villas, Dublin, extends from the North Circular Road to Phibsboro Road. It has a number of small terraces, including Library View Villas, Eglington Terrace, Villa Park, Villa Bank and Blacquire Villas.

I understand that the procedure in such cases is that following consultation with the residents an application would be sent to Dublin City Council traffic department for deliberation. In due course, the Garda Síochána would be asked for its views.

Prior to any change in the traffic arrangements in this area, consultation with the Prison Service in respect of access to St. Patrick's Institution from Royal Canal Bank would also be required.
