Vol. 562 No. 6

Written Answers - Schools Building Projects.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

101 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Education and Science the primary school which is to benefit from the ?500,000 site acquisition allocation in his 2003 primary school building programme budget; if it relates to the acquisition of a site for Kill national school, Kill, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6815/03]

Due to commercial sensitivities of site acquisition, I do not propose at this stage to identify the specific sites to be acquired. The information will be placed on my Department's website at www.education.ie when the relevant acquisitions have been completed.

Pat Breen

Question:

102 Mr. P. Breen asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to the proposed extension at St. Michael's Community College, Kilmihil, County Clare; the discussions which have taken place with Clare VEC in 2001 and in 2002; if Clare VEC responded to all his Department's queries; the current stage of the project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6816/03]

Discussions on a proposed extension at St. Michael's Community College, Kilmihil, County Clare, are ongoing between the County Clare VEC and my Department.

The capital programme for 2003 has been published. Given the level of financial commitments to be met from projects already in construction, it is not envisaged that my Department will be in a position during this year to appoint a design team to commence architectural planning for the project at St. Michael's. The project will, however, be considered for the 2004 school building programme.
