Vol. 562 No. 6

Written Answers - Autism Services.

Paudge Connolly

Question:

118 Mr. Connolly asked the Minister for Health and Children the services which exist for autistic children in the North-Eastern Health Board area; if all parents of autistic children are consulted in the preparation of such services; and the reason the child of a person (details supplied) in County Cavan has received neither therapeutic nor psychological services from the North-Eastern Health Board for over two years. [6713/03]

Additional funding has been made available to North-Eastern Health Board over the past few years to provide a range of services, including residential, respite and day services, for children with autism and those with an intellectual disability.

Responsibility for the allocation of such funding is a matter for the North-Eastern Health Board. Decisions in relation to the precise details of the services to be provided from any additional funding and the individuals who will benefit from those services are a matter for the board. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply to him directly.

Question No. 119 answered with Question No. 77.
