Vol. 563 No. 1

Written Answers - Schools Building Projects.

Olwyn Enright

Question:

311 Ms Enright asked the Minister for Education and Science when St. Patrick's national school, Morristown, Newbridge, County Kildare, will receive its extension; and if in the meantime temporary accommodation will be provided for the school from September 2003 due to the increase in numbers attending the school. [6998/03]

The 2003 school building programme has now been published and full details on individual projects are available on my Department's website at www.education.ie.

On the basis of the budgetary allocation it was not possible to include any further projects in 2003. The budgetary allocation for 2004 and subsequent years will determine the rate of progress on projects that could not be included in this year's programme.

Questions Nos. 312 and 313 answered with Question No. 303.

314 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science the band rating applicable to a project (details supplied) in County Kildare, given recently published documentation from his Department stating that each application to his Department for funding must have a specific band rating; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7001/03]

The building project at the school to which the Deputy refers has been assigned a band 3 rating in the school building programme. A detailed explanation of the band 3 rating is available on the 2003 school building programme as published.

Jack Wall

Question:

315 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science the band rating applicable to a project (details supplied) in County Kildare, given recently published documentation from his Department stating that each application to his Department for funding must have a specific band rating; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7003/03]

The proposed project at the school referred to by the Deputy has not yet commenced architectural planning. The band rating will be finally determined prior to the appointment of a design team to commence this process.

Due to the level of financial commitments to be met from projects already in construction for the 2003 capital programme, my Department will not be in a position to allow further projects to enter architectural planning this year. The project in question will, however, be considered for the 2004 capital programme.
