Vol. 563 No. 2

Written Answers - Garda Computer Systems.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

239 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the cost to date of PULSE; the further costs envisaged; the extent to which the system is now fully operational; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7574/03]

The total capital cost of the PULSE project is €61.33 million. Given the size and complexity of the project, roll-out of the system has taken place in phased releases. The fourth and final phase of the system has already been developed and it is planned to deploy the system nationally later this year. No further capital expenditure is expected for the project.

The PULSE computer system has been operational for three years and is available at 181 locations, including divisional and district headquarters and all major city stations. Under this level of coverage, 85% of all incidents are directly captured and more than 75% of Garda personnel have direct access to PULSE systems in their stations.
