Vol. 563 No. 4

Written Answers - Schools Refurbishment.

John Perry

Question:

267 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Education and Science when he will give the necessary approval for the refurbishment of Aughanwillan national school, Ballinamore, County Leitrim; if his attention has been drawn to the present inadequate accommodation that exists at present; the reasons for the delays; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7622/03]

The 2003 school building programme has now been published and full details on individual projects are available on my Department's website at www.education.ie.

On the basis of the budgetary allocation it was not possible to include any further projects in 2003. The budgetary allocation for 2004 and subsequent years will determine the rate of progress on applications that could not be included in this year's programme. In the meantime, individual schools should use their devolved grant to deal with any urgent health and safety works.
