Question:

472 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children the funding which has been provided to a community facility (details supplied) in Dublin 12 for each of the past five years; the amount of funding which will be provided for 2003; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7981/03]

Responsibility for the provision of health services in Dublin rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. Funding is provided by my Department to the authority for the provision of such services. The authority has informed my Department that financial assistance provided to the facility referred to can be divided into components as follows:

(a) Grants paid to the centre to provide meals to clients

(b) Grant towards the daily operational costs of the centre incorporating the cost of transporting clients to the centre

£39,733 (This figure incorporates the standard grant plus a once off cost incurred in the purchase of a mini-bus.)

£16,778 (This figure incorporates the standard grant plus once off refurbishment costs and additional costs of employing a mini-bus driver.)

€49,118 (This figure incorporates the standard grant plus once off refurbishment costs and costs of employing a full-time supervisor.)

The authority has informed my Department that it is in ongoing discussions with the centre concerning the level of funding to be provided in 2003.
