Vol. 564 No. 1

Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a number of notices under Standing Order 31 and will call on Deputies in the order in which they submitted their notices to my office. I call on Deputy Olivia Mitchell to state her matter.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the withdrawal of vital home help services from the elderly disabled in the North-Eastern Health Board region and the need for the Minister for Health and Children to reimburse the board immediately for the €1 million it was obliged to take from that budget to alleviate conditions at St. Mary's in Drumcar.

I call on Deputy Ó Caoláin to state his matter.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the growing number of redundancies and job losses which numbered more than 12,000 last year and are accelerating in the current year, including the latest loss of more than 80 jobs each at both CPV in Clones, County Monaghan, and the Ronan Group in Clonmel, County Tipperary.

I call on Deputy Deenihan to state his matter.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the crisis facing tourism because of the deterioration in international bookings and the need for the Government to introduce measures to ensure the survival of many operators in the industry and the protection of thousands of jobs in the sector.

I call on Deputy Ó Snodaigh to state his matter.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: in light of the fact that the Six Counties human rights commission has been up and running for several years—

Northern Ireland.

—the need to demonstrate the political will to implement fully all aspects of the Good Friday Agreement as promised in the programme for Government by providing all necessary additional supports and resources to the human rights commission in this State so that it can be made fully operational and thereby fully realise the Government's commitment to equivalent human rights protection as an act of completion mandated by the Good Friday Agreement.

Having given the matters full consideration, I do not consider them to be contemplated by Standing Order 31 and therefore cannot grant leave to move the motions.

Have you any other surprises, a Cheann Comhairle?
