Vol. 564 No. 1

Written Answers - Land Registry.

John Perry

Question:

254 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if the Land Registry Office has received and processed the information submitted via fax from the lodging solicitor on 12 February 2002 to a person (details supplied) in relation to a dealing. [8671/03]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that the dealing number quoted by the Deputy refers to an application under section 49, that is, acquisition of title by virtue of long possession, of the Registration of Titles Act 1964 which was lodged on 29 October 2002. I under stand that due to the complicated nature of these type of applications, which require a detailed examination of the applicant's entitlement to registration as owner of the property concerned, it is not possible to estimate a date of completion at this time. I confirm to the Deputy that the Land Registry has received a reply to the queries which issued to the lodging solicitors and I am further informed that the matter has progressed to the stage where notices of the application were served on parties who might have a valid interest in the property on 13 March 2003. I assure the Deputy that on expiration of the notice period in this case, this application will receive further consideration in the Land Registry.
