390 Mr. Costello asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to an upsurge of crime in the north inner city area of Dublin in recent weeks; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9602/03]
I am informed by the Garda authorities that the local Garda management do not accept that there is an increase of crime in the north inner city area of Dublin in recent weeks. The Garda authorities also inform me that reported crime in respect of the Dublin north central division, which is responsible for policing in the north inner city, has not increased compared with the same period last year.
