Vol. 564 No. 5

Written Answers - Visa Applications.

Gerard Murphy

Question:

391 Mr. Murphy asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his Department will intervene in the case of a holiday visa application for a person (details supplied). [9608/03]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to his previous Parliamentary Question No. 531 on 25 March 2003 on this matter. As I indicated, it is open to the person to make a fresh visa application with up-to-date supporting documentation and the matter will be reconsidered. To assist the consideration of a new application the documentation should include the couple's marriage certificate and the husband's Garda registration card to confirm his status in the State.

Willie Penrose

Question:

392 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if an appeal against the refusal of a visa to a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath has been adjudicated upon; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9625/03]

The visa application in question was refused in January 2003 and there is no record of an appeal being lodged in respect of the application.

Reasons for the refusal will be forwarded to the applicant's reference in Ireland. It is then open to the applicant to appeal against the refusal by writing to the visa appeals officer in my Department. In this regard, the immigration division, which includes the visa office, is located at 13-14 Burgh Quay, Dublin 2.
