Vol. 564 No. 5

Written Answers - Prison Medical Service.

Dan Neville

Question:

399 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if prisoners who have personality disorders are treated by the psychiatric services. [9777/03]

Prisoners who are diagnosed with personality disorders have access to medical, nursing, psychiatric, and psychology services within the prison system. They also have access to counselling and support services under the aegis of the probation and welfare service. Any treatment programme provided would be a matter for the professional judgment of the services involved.
