207 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will expedite applications for incremental credits or interdepartmental transfers in the names of persons (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 391 of 29 January 2003 and the new information submitted by the applicants, he will now make a decision on the matter. No formal scheme for the award of incremental credit for special needs assistants is in place in my Department. However, the matter of the starting salary for people employed as special needs assistants who may have formerly worked in other areas of the public service is under consideration. A decision on the cases referred to by the Deputy will be made when this process is complete.
