166 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when CCTV cameras will be installed in Limerick city; if Watergate flats are included in the initial phase; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11190/03]
I have been informed by the Garda authorities that the contractor is in the process of carrying out ducting works in the city at present. It is expected that the installation of cameras will commence following the granting of the required wayleaves and the completion of the planning process.
Watergate Flats are not included in the Limerick city CCTV scheme. However, an application has been received by the CCTV advisory committee, which was established by the Garda Commissioner to evaluate applications for CCTV systems, to consider an extension of the Limerick scheme to incorporate the Watergate Flats complex. This application is under consideration by the committee.
