I propose to take Questions Nos. 131 and 132 together.

Since the implementation of the national cancer strategy commenced in 1997, there has been a cumulative additional revenue investment of approximately €400 million in the development of appropriate treatment and care services for people with cancer. This includes the sum of €29 million which was provided this year to ensure that we continue to address increasing demands in cancer services in such areas as oncology-haematology services, oncology drug treatments and symptomatic breast disease services.

To inform the development of the new national cancer strategy, an evaluation of the national cancer strategy 1996 is currently being undertaken. As part of this work, my Department is currently analysing investment data since 1997 in the area of capital investment as it relates to cancer services. My Department will supply the Deputy with the these figures as soon as this exercise is complete.
