Vol. 566 No. 1

Written Answers. - Proposed Legislation.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

159 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment when she expects to have the Redundancy Payments Bill passed by both Houses of the Oireachtas; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11835/03]

The new redundancy Bill was published today. It is my firm intention to bring the increased statutory payments into effect at the earliest possible date. When the Bill is introduced in the Oireachtas, I propose to inform the House the date from which the new redundancy terms will be effective. This will also give advance notice to employers of the new redundancy terms.
