160 Mr. Boyle asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of nominations and appointments made by her since 6 June 2002; and the number of and areas where vacancies for such appointments will arise and when. [11861/03]

The information sought is as follows: Three vacancies have arisen in Forfás and two appointments have been made. Mr. Martin Cronin was appointed on 5 August 2002 and Mr. Peter Cassells was re-appointed as chairman on 1 January 2003. There is currently one vacancy on the Forfás board and an appointment is expected in the near future.

One new appointment to the board of the Industrial Development Authority has been made: Ms Loretta Brennan-Glucksman was appointed on 5 March 2003. An existing board member, Mr. Kieran Corrigan, has been reappointed. One fifth of the board is required to retire each year. The next retirements are due at the end of this year, at which time two vacancies will therefore arise.
Two re-appointments were made to the board of Enterprise Ireland: Mr. Brian Kearney and Mr. Gus Fitzpatrick who were both re-appointed on 24 July 2002. There is currently one vacancy on the board. Ms Mary Ann O'Brien was appointed to the board of the Crafts Council of Ireland as chairperson on 9 April 2003.
When the Industrial Development (Science Foundation Ireland) Bill 2002 is enacted later this year a board of Science Foundation Ireland: consisting of 12 members will be appointed. Mr. Brian O'Connell was re-appointed to SFADCo on 25 April 2003. There are currently two vacancies.
There have been no appointments to the board of FÁS since 6 June 2002. The period of appointment to the present board of FÁS is five years and this is due to expire on 31 December 2005. There have been no appointments to the board of FÁS International Consulting Limited since 6 June 2002. A vacancy on the board of FÁS International Consulting Limited was created by the death of Mr. Jim Tunney. This vacancy has not yet been filled. The period of appointment to the present board of FÁS International Consulting Limited is three years and this is due to expire on 31 December 2003.
On 5 June 2002 Mr. T.N. Welch was re-appointed as chairman and director to the board of Nitrigin Eireann Teoranta. On 27 June 2002 both Mr. Liam Coughlan and Mr. Ronald Long were re-appointed. On 28 November 2002 Mr. S. O'Riordan, Mr. T. Morrissey and Mr. D. Morris were re-appointed. In February 2003 Mr. C. O'Mahony* was appointed to the board of the National Standards Authority of Ireland.
One appointment was made to the board of the Health and Safety Authority, Mr. Martin Lynch.* Vacancies for appointments to the board of the Health and Safety Authority will arise upon the completion of the current term of office of the 11 member board, that is, 10 December 2004. Mr. Jimmy Somers was re-appointed as a member of the Labour Court on 1 February 2003 and Mr. Pat Pierce was re-appointed on 1 April 2003. Mr. Robert Grier was appointed on 1 March 2003. Vacancies will arise in the Labour Court as follows: December 2003, chairman; December 2003, deputy chairman; July 2003, two members; June 2004, member; November 2004, Member.
Mr. Maurice Cashell was appointed chairman of the Labour Relations Commission for the period 1 April 2003 to 31 March 2006. The following were appointed as members for the same period: Breege O'Donoghue, Josephine Feehily, Brendan McGinty, Liam Downey, Peter McCloone, Tom Wall.
Mr. Tony Bregazzi was re-appointed as a rights commissioner with effect from 5 December 2002 to 4 December 2003. This appointment will terminate on 4 December 2003. Mr. Michael Rooney was appointed from 23 September 2002 to 22 September 2005.
One appointment was made to the position of vice-chairman of the Employment Appeals Tribunal on 2 September 2002. Three ordinary members to the tribunal were appointed on 2 April 2003, Mr. Paul Clarke, Mr. Mel Kennedy and Mr. Sam Nolan. The entire membership of the tribunal will be up for renewal on 29 January 2004, with the exception of the post of chairman whose term of office will expire 18 April 2005.
