Vol. 566 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

John Cregan

Question:

287 Mr. Cregan asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason for the delay in part-time teachers being paid during holiday periods in view of the fact that the legislation has been passed by the Houses of the Oireachtas. [11511/03]

Discussions are ongoing with the teacher unions on the implementation of the Protection of Employees (Part-Time Work) Act 2001 under the auspices of the Teachers Conciliation Council. This is a complex piece of legislation affecting pay, conditions of service and pensions of certain part-time teachers. It is expected that these discussions will be finalised shortly and any entitlements arising from the legislation will be applied retrospectively.
