Vol. 566 No. 1

Written Answers. - Closed Circuit Television Systems.

Dan Boyle

Question:

330 Mr. Boyle asked the Minister for Education and Science the regulations which exist relating to the use of closed circuit television in second level schools, particularly its use in or adjacent to changing areas. [11856/03]

Responsibility for ensuring the safety and welfare of all personnel in schools is a matter for individual school authorities. In practical terms, individual school authorities are best placed to assess their security details. My Department provides funding for external closed circuit television systems in second level schools only, depending on the merits of each case. Internal security arrangements, including the use and operation of CCTV, are a matter for school authorities.
