Vol. 566 No. 1

Written Answers. - General Practitioner Co-operatives.

Bernard Allen

Question:

534 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will make a statement on recent comments by a person (details supplied), that he is delaying giving the go-ahead to extend GP co-ops to save money. [12305/03]

Funding for the expansion of out of hours co-operatives, totalling €4.143 million, was allocated to six health boards and the Eastern Regional Health Authority in April of this year. The reason these allocations were announced in April as opposed to being notified earlier in health board's letters of determination was solely to allow for detailed discussions with and submissions from the health board personnel involved in the proposed co-operative expansions.
