Vol. 566 No. 1

Written Answers. - Naturalisation Applications.

John McGuinness

Question:

637 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the status of an application for naturalisation in the name of a person (details supplied); and if this person's application can be expedited and a time frame for a decision given. [11754/03]

There is no record in the citizenship section of my Department of an application for naturalisation, or indeed post-nuptial citizenship, having been received from the person concerned. However, I understand that the person in question has lodged an application for residency on the basis of his marriage to an Irish national in January 2003. The processing time for such applications is approximately nine months at the present time and consequently, it is likely that a decision on this application will be made in early 2004.
