Vol. 566 No. 3

Written Answers. - Home Help Service.

Michael Ring

Question:

348 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason the five hours home help given to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo has been stopped, in view of the fact that they have one daughter who suffers with cerebral palsy and a second child with medical problems; and the way in which their situation has improved so dramatically that they no longer need this help, according to the Western Health Board. [12834/03]

The provision of health related services, including home support services, for people with physical and-or sensory disabilities is a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority and the health boards in the first instance. Accordingly, the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer of the Western Health Board with a request that she examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
