Vol. 566 No. 4

Written Answers. - Housing Grants.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

236 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if a person (details supplied) in County Cork who has provisional approval for a new house grant can transfer the approval to an alternative and adjacent house which also meets grant requirement. [13090/03]

An application from the person concerned under the new house grant scheme is being considered. The relevant regulations provide that applicants are required to have entered into a contract to purchase or build a house on or before 14 November 2002 and that the application for the grant must be received on or before 4 December 2002. The regulations also require that the house, the subject of a grant application, must be completed and occupied by the applicant and application for payment of the grant received by the Minister for the Environment and Local Government on or before 13 November 2003.

As the dates stipulated in the regulations regarding the signing of contracts and the lodging of applications at the termination of the scheme have now passed, it would not be possible to accept an application in respect of another house.
