Vol. 566 No. 4

Written Answers. - Flood Relief.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

186 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance the action forthcoming to combat the repeated incidents of flooding at Mill Lane, Leixlip, County Kildare; the number of times serious flooding has taken place there in the past five years; the actions taken by him directly or through Kildare County Council to deal with the issue; his plans in this regard in the near future; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13185/03]

OPW does not maintain records of the number of times that serious flooding has occurred at Mill Lane, Leixlip. Office of Public Works currently has no plans for carrying out flood relief works in this area. However, I understand that Kildare County Council is in the process of appointing a consulting engineer to investigate and report on flooding in the Rye Water and Liffey Rivers which impact on Mill Lane, Leixlip. A copy of this report will be forwarded to Office of Public Works by the county council when complete. This is likely to take several months.

Question No. 187 withdrawn.
