396 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if the disabled persons grant scheme will be revised in order that 100% funding is provided centrally and the scheme can be recommenced in all local authorities. [13444/03]
The amounts recouped to local authorities by my Department under the disabled person's grant scheme have increased more than fivefold from €5.8 million in 1997 to €31.5 million in 2002.
The operation of the scheme is under review in my Department. On completion of the review, which is envisaged in the next few months, I will be in a position to determine what changes, if any, are required to the regulations governing the scheme.
