Vol. 567 No. 5

Written Answers. - Teaching Qualifications.

Martin Ferris

Question:

247 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Education and Science the jobs which will be available for students taking a new course for special needs assistants run for the School of Practical Childcare; and when these jobs will be advertised. [14448/03]

Special needs assistants, SNAs, though paid by my Department, are employed by schools to provide for the care needs of pupils professionally assessed as having special requirements. It is a matter for schools' boards of management to recruit and appoint SNAs once sanction has been received from my Department.
