Vol. 567 No. 5

Written Answers. - Museum Projects.

John McGuinness

Question:

413 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if Dúchas have considered plans to establish a county or regional archive at Kilkenny Castle; if he will consider such a proposal in partnership with local interest groups; if he will consider establishing a county museum and archives should another location be found other than the castle; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14597/03]

The establishment of such an archive was fully explored when the parade wing of the castle was being restored a few years ago. The proposal did not prove feasible.

The establishment of a museum-archive in Kilkenny would primarily be a matter for the local authority concerned.
