Question:

128 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the number of applications for grants received by the closing date of 11 April 2003 under the scheme of support for federations, networks and umbrella bod ies in the community and voluntary sector; when a decision will be made on the applications; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14397/03]

The funding scheme to support the role of federations, networks and umbrella bodies in the community and voluntary sector attracted 132 applications by the closing date of 11 April 2003. A request for tender to assess these applications and to make recommendations to the Department was issued on 25 April 2003 to a number of consultants. The closing date for receipt of tenders was 16 May 2003. A consultant was appointed on 21 May 2003 to carry out the assessment. It is expected that this assessment will be completed by the end of July. All applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application shortly thereafter.
