Vol. 567 No. 6

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputies Perry and Devins – the need for the State to acquire Lissadell House, County Sligo, home of Countess Markievicz, in light of its historical connections; (2) Deputies Ring and Cooper-Flynn – the need to enter into an agreement with Silflex Limited, Ballinrobe, County Mayo regarding plans for an IDA factory; (3) Deputy Brendan Smith – the need to ensure the continuation of the maximum level of services at the department of surgery at Cavan General Hospital; (4) Deputy Neville – the Pollock report on the facilities provision at Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin; (5) Deputy Broughan – the urgent need to reverse funding cutbacks of almost 30% at the Northside Partnership, Bunratty Drive, Coolock, Dublin 17; (6) Deputy Harkin – the cessation of all paid group tuition in the Leitrim education for adults programme; (7) Deputy Crowe – the long-standing accommodation crisis facing Scoil Treasa, Ballycullen Avenue, Firhouse, Dublin 24; (8) Deputy Crawford – to ask the Minister for Agriculture and Food what steps he is taking to regulate the staff shortages in the Department offices in Cavan-Monaghan and other areas in light of the fact that farm families in Cavan-Monaghan as well as other parts of the country are not being paid their REPS grants or having their applications under farm waste and development grants dealt with, either for approval or in respect of those who have their work completed for payment, yet farmers are under request-order to carry out farm waste management and dairy hygiene projects from both the local authorities and the Department of Agriculture and Food; (9) Deputy Finian McGrath – the urgent need for more investment in our health services to reduce waiting lists and ward closures; (10) Deputy Allen – the ever increasing incidence of violence in urban areas, with particular reference to a serious fatal incident involving the death of a person (details supplied); and (11) Deputy Ó Snodaigh – the need to take immediate steps to secure the site adjacent to St. Brigid's national school, The Coombe, Dublin 8, to allow for the building of a new school.

The matters raised by Deputies Ring and Cooper-Flynn, Deputy Ó Snodaigh, Deputies Perry and Devins and Deputy Broughan have been selected for discussion.
