Question:133 Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin asked the Minister for Finance his legislative priorities for the remainder of the Dáil term. [14949/03]
Written Answers. - Legislative Programme.
The legislation programme for my Department is set out in the press release, which was issued by my colleague the Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach, Deputy Hanafin, Government Chief Whip, on 6 May 2003. The details of the programme are as follows:
1) The Houses of the Oireachtas Commission Bill 2002 is currently awaiting Committee Stage scheduling in the Dáil. I hope to progress this matter in the near future. 2) It is intended to publish the public service management (recruitment and appointments) Bill during the current Dáil session. The purpose of this Bill is to reform the recruitment and appointment process of the Civil Service and the posts currently within the remit of the Local Appointments Commissioners. This Bill was promised in Sustaining Progress.
It is intended that three more Bills will be published during the autumn session, namely, the central bank and financial services authority of Ireland Bill, the ombudsman (amendment) Bill and the civil service regulation (Amendment) (1956 Act) Bill. 3) Work is continuing on the preparation of the following five Bills with an intended later date for publication: dormant accounts Bill, financial services (consolidation) Bill, member of council of europe development bank and asian development bank Bill, revenue Bill and the Customs and Excise (Mutual Assistance) Act 2001 (Amendment) Bill. 4) Annual Bills such as the Appropriation Bill and the Finance Bill will continue to be published and enacted each year.
