Vol. 567 No. 7

Written Answers. - Garda Operations.

Aengus Ó Snodaigh

Question:

224 Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform his views on whether it was appropriate for the Garda to prevent a person (details supplied) in County Limerick from serving a witness summons on the Taoiseach at Dromoland Castle, County Clare, on 22 May 2003; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14972/03]

I am advised by the Garda authorities that the individual in question has made a formal complaint about the matter under the Garda Síochána (Complaints) Act 1986. In the circumstances it would not be appropriate for me to comment further on the matter.

Aengus Ó Snodaigh

Question:

225 Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the findings by the High Court against a person (details supplied) that ordered the wrongful arrest in 1991 of persons (details supplied); the action he plans to take in view of this finding; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14973/03]

I am awaiting legal advice on all aspects of the High Court's decision of 20 May in this case. Accordingly, I do not think it would be appropriate for me to comment on the case at this stage.
