Written Answers. - DIT Student Numbers.

Paul Nicholas Gogarty

Question:

311 Mr. Gogarty asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the fact that there has been a reduced number of students registering in the Dublin Institute of Technology; his views on the fact that this is related to the 70% increase in the registration charge for 2002-03; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15188/03]

My Department has made inquiries with the Dublin Institute of Technology in relation to student numbers in the institute in the 2002-03 academic year. According to the institute, the number of full-time students registered in the Dublin Institute of Technology in 2002-03 was 10,117, an increase of 190 over the previous year.
