Vol. 568 No. 1

Written Answers. - Public Transport.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

606 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Transport if he has contingency plans to ensure continuity of service in areas of County Donegal in view of the uncertainty regarding public transport in the Inishowen and north-west areas of County Donegal from 1 July 2003; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15346/03]

I refer the Deputy to the reply to Parliamentary Question No. 353 on 15 April 2003. As part of the review of possible options to ensure the continuation of bus services in north Donegal, Bus Éireann has been in contact with the relevant private licensed operator and further discussions between the parties are planned from next week. These discussions are expected to assist in developing appropriate arrangements for the continuing provision of public transport services in the areas affected.
