Question:700 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government if the Garda Síochána will have full access to the national vehicle driver file; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15199/03]
Written Answers. - National Vehicle Driver File.
In accordance with section 60 of the Finance Act 1993, full access to the records contained in the national vehicle and driver file, NVDF, is available to the Garda Síochána. My Department has for a number of years provided, in electronic format, such details as the Garda Síochána requires in relation to the vehicle records on the NVDF. Details of driver records will also be provided in similar fashion when the appropriate computerised processing system is introduced by the Garda Siochána.
