Question:753 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the reason the summer jobs scheme for students was abolished; the number who took up such positions in the last year the scheme operated; if he has plans for a replacement scheme to provide income support for students from less well off backgrounds during the summer months; if he has received proposals from the area based partnerships for measures to assist students from disadvantaged backgrounds in finding summer employment; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
