Vol. 568 No. 1

Written Answers. - Recreational Facilities.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

139 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Education and Science if, in view of the long standing delay in providing proper sporting facilities in Collinstown Park Community School in north Clondalkin, he will now consider working with other Departments and South Dublin County Council in an integrated public partnership project to produce a multi-use facility that will benefit both the school and the community alike. [15834/03]

Plans for a 1607 square metres, multi-purpose sports hall attached to Collinstown Park Community College are at an advanced stage of architectural planning. In addition to containing a PE hall of 634 square metres, the hall will also contain a cre±che, a meeting room, a fitness studio, a multi-purpose area and a range of ancillary accommodation. When constructed, it is planned that the hall will serve not just the school community but also the wider community.

A contribution towards construction costs will be made by the Departments of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government and Community, Rural, and Gaeltacht Affairs.
