Vol. 568 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Ciarán Cuffe

Question:

138 Mr. Cuffe asked the Minister for Education and Science the stage the site acquisition process is at in relation to Griffeen Valley Educate Together school; when it is envisaged that negotiations will be completed; if this process will be completed in time to allow for more than 30 pupils to attend the school in September 2003; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15830/03]

The Deputy will appreciate that, due to the commercial sensitivities associated with site acquisition, I am unable to provide detailed information relating to specific site purchases.

However, I can advise the Deputy that the property management section of the Office of Public Works, which acts on behalf of my Department in relation to site acquisitions generally, has been instructed to enter into negotiations to acquire a site for the Griffeen Valley Educate Together national school.

However, at this stage, it is unlikely that a site will be available for the forthcoming school year. My Department is currently in communication with the Board of Management of Griffeen Valley Educate Together national school with a view to arranging alternative accommodation, as an interim measure, for September 2003.
