Vol. 568 No. 3

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

John McGuinness

Question:

124 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the weekly hours worked by staff in Dúchas, Kilkenny, is not shown on their pay slips, thereby, preventing persons from raising queries when deductions are made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16350/03]

The type of pay slip referred to is one that is used throughout most Government Departments. It gives full details of employee's pay, allowances, overtime earnings and deductions. In response to representations from the trade unions concerned, additional information has now been incorporated which gives a breakdown of overtime earnings at different rates. However, for technical reasons it is not possible to record on the payslip the hours actually worked at standard time, or at different rates of overtime. Any employee encountering difficulty is free to seek clarification from their local pay office.
