Vol. 568 No. 6

Written Answers. - Speech Therapy Service.

Damien English

Question:

266 Mr. English asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will appoint a speech therapist to a person (details supplied) in County Meath who is attending the special care unit in Athlumney, Navan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17133/03]

The provision of health related services, including speech and language therapy, for people with an intellectual disability is a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority and the health boards in the first instance. Accordingly, the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer of the North-Eastern Health Board with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
