Adjournment Debate Matters.

An Leas-Cheann Comhairle:

I wish to advise the House that 14 Deputies have submitted matters under Standing Order 21, which will be listed in the Official Report: (1) Deputy Breeda Moynihan-Cronin – the lack of funding for essential work at Holy Cross National School in Killarney, County Kerry: (2) Deputy Finian McGrath – the serious staffing situation in Belgrove School Senior Boys, Clontarf, Dublin 3; (3) Deputy Gay Mitchell – to raise on the adjournment the reply to Question No. 171 of 22 May 2003 in relation to a 16 year-old who is seeking a visa to join her parents and their other two children in Ireland, especially given the unacceptable tone and nature of the reply received; (4) Deputy Ring – if anything has been put into place instead of the student summer jobs scheme for summer 2003 for third level students; (5) Deputy Cowley – the need to take steps for a pupil with very special needs (details supplied) to attend Cuilmore national school (An Choil Mhor); (6) Deputy McManus – the problems facing second level children who will be provided with an inadequate school bus service from Newtownmountkennedy, County Wicklow from September 2003; (7) Deputy Boyle – the reported use of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provision) Act 2001 where parents of Traveller families are threatened with children being taken into care for their failure to comply with the Act; (8) Deputy Jim O'Keeffe – the failure of the Government to provide the promised funding for the new pier at Bantry in West Cork; (9) Deputy Ó Snodaigh – in the light of assurances in the Government's progress report, and until such time as the planned internal review is completed, the need to intervene on an urgent basis to reverse the latest cuts which led to the closure of six CE schemes in the Dublin 12 area earlier this week; (10) Deputy Neville – the provision of a new school for Kilfinane County Limerick; (11) Deputy Deenihan – the serious problems being experienced by Partnership Tralee, County Kerry because of a decrease in its budget for 2003; (12) Deputy Morgan – the need for the Minister for Health and Children to address the unacceptable situation whereby the five day ward at Louth County Hospital is to be closed for the summer; (13) Deputy Finneran – the measures being taken by the Office of Public Works to control flood levels and to carry out a maintenance programme on the River Shannon; (14) Deputy Ferris – the urgent need to discuss the €100,000 cut in funding for Partnership Tralee and the implications which this will have for the support of various local initiatives.

The matters raised by Deputies Ó Snodaigh, Finneran, McManus and Jim O'Keeffe have been selected for discussion.
