Question:

322 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Social and Family Affairs the current number of staff, broken down by grade, employed in the press office in respect of her office and the office of each Minister of State within her Department; the current amount paid in respect of each office in terms of salary, overtime and expenses; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [17148/03]

There are three staff in my Department's press office – one higher executive officer, one executive officer and one staff officer. The gross salary costs of these officers totals €93,696 per annum. The amount budgeted for overtime and expenses in respect of 2003 amounts to a total of €18,850.

I have appointed to my own office, on a contract basis for my term of office, a press adviser at a salary of €71,813.00 per annum. There is no Minister of State at my Department.
