Vol. 569 No. 3

Written Answers. - Drainage Schemes.

Olwyn Enright

Question:

201 Ms Enright asked the Minister for Finance if adequate maintenance work on the River Shannon, River Brosna and other waterways in the west Offaly area has been carried out by those with responsibility for doing it. [17633/03]

The Office of Public Works has no responsibility for drainage works on the River Shannon. Maintenance works on the River Brosna and other waterways in west Offaly, for which the Office of Public Works has a maintenance responsibility under the Arterial Drainage Act 1945, are carried out in accordance with a programme of maintenance works which is drawn up each year having regard to the condition of the channels involved.
