237 Ms Harkin asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department intends to put a cap on the number of post-leaving certificate students for September 2003 at current levels. [17414/03]
The upper limit on places to be approved for post leaving certificate courses at national level for the academic year 2003-04 will be in the region of 28,700. This number of places corresponds with the current enrolment levels on these courses. In excess of 7,000 extra places have been provided on post leaving certificate courses in the past six years as illustrated by the enrolment details set out in the following table:
