Vol. 569 No. 3

Written Answers. - Proposed Legislation.

Denis Naughten

Question:

311 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children if family run public houses will be exempt from the ban on smoking; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17489/03]

On 30 January 2003 at the launch of the report on the health effects of environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) in the workplace I announced a prohibition on smoking in places of work to come into operation on 1 January 2004. This prohibition will apply to all licensed premises – including family-run public houses.
