Question:249 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Transport the total budget available within his Department for the implementation of the taxi hardship panel report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18116/03]
Written Answers. - Taxi Regulations.
Initial funding of some €2 million is included in the 2003 Departmental Estimates to cover initial establishment costs of the Commission for Taxi Regulation and some payments arising from the Taxi Hardship Panel recommendations. Additional funding required in 2003 over and above the existing 2003 provision will be met from savings in the Department's Vote. The question of the funding of the remaining costs of the Taxi Hardship Panel recommendations will be the subject of further discussions with the Department of Finance.
