Vol. 569 No. 5

Written Answers. - EU Directives.

Mary Upton

Question:

62 Dr. Upton asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if Ireland has transposed the most recent European copyright directive; if not, when it is proposed to transpose the directive; the reason for the delay; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [18200/03]

On 27 September 2001, the European Parliament and the Council adopted a directive on the resale right for the benefit of the author of an original work of art. Member states are obliged to transpose this directive before 1 January 2006. My Department has commenced a consultation process in relation to this.
