Vol. 570 No. 2

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Mary Upton

Question:

304 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will review a request for provision of school transport (details supplied) in view of the particular needs of the area and the children involved. [18647/03]

My Department has examined the situation regarding school transport for pupils from the Cherry Orchard area to the schools in Ballyfermot on a number of occasions over the years. The pupils in question are within two miles of their nearest suitable school and are not eligible for transport under the terms of the scheme. It is not, therefore, open to my Department to offer transport.
